Accountants in Cambridgeshire for growing businesses
NDCA is an ACCA-regulated practice working with sole traders, limited companies and landlords across Cambridgeshire.
Cambridgeshire’s economy runs on Silicon Fen, the technology and life sciences cluster around Cambridge that includes AstraZeneca, Arm and Darktrace, alongside Peterborough’s advanced manufacturing base built around Perkins Engines and a sizeable agri-tech sector. NDCA is a fixed-fee practice built for that range, run through Xero, with one accountant instead of a rotating team. We work with businesses right across the county, from Huntingdon and St Neots to St Ives, not just the Cambridge and Peterborough hubs.
Peterborough is a different economy again: a logistics and distribution hub on the London to Edinburgh rail line, home to Amazon, DPD and Princes Foods sites among others, with strong jobs growth over the past decade. That mix of Cambridge’s research-driven start-ups and Peterborough’s warehousing and manufacturing base means Cambridgeshire clients rarely fit one template, so we do not try to force them into one.

Who we help
Why businesses choose NDCA
NDCA gives you more than a year-end filing. You get monthly figures you can rely on, advice before deadlines rather than after them and one fixed fee that stays the same when you pick up the phone.
What Cambridgeshire businesses need from their accountant
Landlords and property investors have their own rules: mortgage interest relief, allowable expenses and the tax position when a portfolio grows past one or two properties. Getting this wrong is expensive, but getting it right is straightforward with the right advice.
Whatever stage your business is at, the right accountant should be answering questions before they become problems, not just filing a return once a year.
Why growing businesses in Cambridgeshire choose a remote-first accountant
Being remote-first is not a trade-off, it is how we stay senior. You get a named accountant who knows your business and normally responds the same day, backed by real-time numbers in Xero instead of an annual catch-up.
NDCA selects clients on fit, not location. That means senior attention on your account whether you are a Cambridge biotech spinout, a Peterborough manufacturer or a sole trader on your way to becoming a limited company, not a junior handling everything while a partner signs it off once a year.
The services Cambridgeshire clients use most
- Bookkeeping: your Xero file reconciled and kept current throughout the year.
- Management accounts: monthly or quarterly reports that show how the business is performing between year-ends.
- Self assessment: for sole traders, directors and landlords, filed accurately and on time.
- VAT returns: registered and filed on time under Making Tax Digital, with the right scheme for your turnover.
- Corporation tax: CT600 returns prepared and filed with the reliefs and allowances relevant to you checked first.
- Payroll: staff paid correctly and on time, with RTI, pensions and payslips taken care of each month.
Sole traders moving to a limited company, biotech spinouts scaling their first funding round or agri-tech firms taking on their first employees: we help you make the switch at the right time, not too early and not too late.
How NDCA works
Fixed monthly fee
One price agreed at the start covers everything in scope. No hourly billing, no charge for picking up the phone.
Direct answers from your accountant
One named accountant handles your file and normally replies the same day, working from live Xero figures rather than a once-a-year catch-up.
Built around your business
We shape the service around your business, whatever its size or sector.
Cloud accounting with Xero
- Automatic bank feeds: no manual uploads, and VAT filed digitally with HMRC.
- Invoice and receipt capture: Apron collects supplier bills and receipts so each cost is recorded when it happens.
- Mobile access: check figures and approve payments on the Xero app, in the office or on the move.
- Numbers that stay current: your file is updated through the year, not once at the end of it.
Moving from QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent or spreadsheets is part of onboarding, so you start on Xero with clean opening balances.
Switching from a Cambridgeshire accountant
Changing accountant follows a set routine. We contact your current firm for professional clearance, take over as your HMRC agent and move your records into Xero. You can switch at any point in the year. How long it takes depends mainly on how quickly your previous accountant sends the records across, and we keep you updated throughout.
