Straight away he made me feel at ease about my accounts and my tax situation which I personally felt were an absolute mess. In short: NDCA is an ACCA-regulated accountancy practice that prepares and files Self Assessment tax returns for sole traders, landlords, company directors, partners and higher earners. We explain your tax bill and payments on account and file before the 31 January deadline. Your return is covered by one fixed fee, agreed after a free call.

Real accountant, not a portal. A named accountant prepares your return and answers your questions directly. We normally reply the same day.

One fixed fee. A standalone return is a one-off fixed fee, and if you are on a monthly plan it is included in the fee you already pay. The exact cost depends on your income sources and is confirmed before you start, so there is no surprise January invoice.

Filed early, not at the deadline. Most clients hand their records over well ahead of 31 January, so you know your tax bill months in advance and have time to plan for it.

What we handle as your self assessment accountant

A named accountant prepares your self assessment tax return from start to finish, whatever is making it complicated:

Business income
Sole trader income and related business expenses.

Property income
Rental income, allowable property expenses and landlord tax returns. If your rental income is approaching the Making Tax Digital for Income Tax threshold, we can prepare you for that too.

Personal income
Employment income, dividends, savings, pensions and other taxable income.

Capital gains
Share disposals, property gains and other capital gains, including the 60-day deadline to report and pay when a UK residential property sale leaves Capital Gains Tax to pay.

Tax planning and HMRC
Payments on account, the High Income Child Benefit Charge, tax code reviews and HMRC correspondence where relevant.

Whatever is making your self assessment complicated, NDCA can probably deal with it. If you also run a limited company, we file your corporation tax and director self assessment together so the figures match.

How NDCA works

A simple four-step process, from first contact to filed return:

  1. Tell us about your tax affairs. A few details on your income sources: self-employment, property, dividends, capital gains or anything else.
  2. We prepare your fixed quote. We confirm exactly what is included and what you will pay, before any work starts.
  3. We prepare and file your return. Your named accountant drafts the return, checks it with you and files it with HMRC well ahead of 31 January.
  4. We keep you informed. You know your tax bill in advance and can ask questions at any time.

Who we work with

NDCA self assessment clients fall into a few groups:

  • Sole traders who have outgrown a spreadsheet
  • Landlords with one property or a full portfolio
  • Company directors paying themselves through salary and dividends
  • Higher earners with income over £100,000 or a High Income Child Benefit Charge to manage
  • Anyone who has sold property, shares, crypto or another asset and needs a capital gains return

If your situation is not on the list, get in touch and we will tell you straight away whether we can help.

A worked example: a first-year tax bill

Say 2026/27 is your first full year as a sole trader, with a profit of £30,000 and no other income. You pay £3,486 of Income Tax and £1,045.80 of Class 4 National Insurance, a total of £4,531.80.

By 31 January 2028 you pay that £4,531.80 plus a first payment on account of £2,265.90 towards 2027/28, so £6,797.70 is due in one go, with a second payment of £2,265.90 by 31 July 2028. We show you these figures well before January, so the money is set aside.

Need your self assessment filed?

Most clients file well before January. The earlier you start, the longer you have to plan for the tax bill. Send us your details and we will show you exactly how we would help.

Switching from another accountant

Already have an accountant and not happy with the service? Switching is simpler than people think. We send a professional clearance letter, collect your records and pick up where they left off. How long it takes depends mainly on how quickly your previous accountant sends the records across, and we keep you updated throughout.

You do not need to wait for the next tax year, and you do not need an awkward phone call. As a self assessment accountant UK clients switch to every month, we handle it.

Self assessment FAQs

Self Assessment starts from £245 plus VAT as a one-off fee, with no setup fee. For limited companies, our fees start from £95 plus VAT a month. You receive a fixed quote at the end of your free 30-minute call, based on your income, records and any other sources of income. Any records alignment or bookkeeping catch-up is quoted separately in writing before work starts.

For the 2025/26 tax year, online returns must be filed and any tax paid by 31 January 2027. Missing the deadline brings an automatic £100 penalty, with further penalties the longer a return stays outstanding. We file early so this is never a last-minute risk.

Generally anyone who is self-employed, a partner in a partnership, a company director with untaxed income, a landlord with rental income above the property allowance, a higher earner or someone who has sold an asset that triggers capital gains tax. If you are not sure, ask us.

Yes. NDCA prepares your return from the figures you send us and files it directly with HMRC once you have approved it. You do not need to use the HMRC portal yourself or work out the figures on your own.

Yes. We handle dividend and savings income, rental income for landlords and capital gains on property, shares and other assets.

Yes. If you run a limited company, we prepare the company accounts and corporation tax alongside your personal self assessment, so the figures match and nothing falls between the two.
