Payroll involves more than calculating salaries. It covers PAYE and RTI submissions, pension deductions, statutory payments, starters and leavers and year-end reporting. NDCA is an ACCA-regulated accounting firm that can also take care of your Corporation Tax.

- Payroll setup for new employers
- Director payroll
The exact scope depends on your agreed service.
Director payroll for limited companies
NDCA can set up and run payroll for company directors, including salary calculations, PAYE reporting and payroll records.
Director payroll is often simple in structure but still needs to be reported correctly under PAYE and RTI. We consider your salary alongside dividends, Corporation Tax and your wider tax position as part of your annual accounts and tax work, rather than treating payroll as a standalone task. If you already work with NDCA on your accounts or Corporation Tax, director payroll fits into the same relationship.
Taking on your first employee?
NDCA can help with employer payroll setup, then take care of the ongoing payroll process.
Becoming an employer for the first time means registering with HMRC, setting up PAYE and running your first payroll correctly from the start. We handle the PAYE registration and payroll setup, add your employee’s details and process your first payroll along with the RTI submission and any pension considerations. From there, payslips and ongoing payroll deadlines are handled as part of your normal service.
If you want to understand the registration steps yourself first, our guide to running payroll for the first time covers PAYE and Government Gateway setup.
How NDCA works
What you can expect:
- Fixed monthly fee
One agreed monthly fee based on the scope of your payroll. You are not billed per payslip, and there is no surprise invoice at year end. - A named person
You have a real person handling your payroll, someone you can contact directly when something changes. - Payroll runs to an agreed schedule
Payroll is processed according to the schedule agreed at onboarding, with RTI and pension requirements handled as part of the process.
Payroll alongside the rest of your accounting
Payroll does not need to sit with a separate provider.
NDCA can also handle your bookkeeping, VAT, Corporation Tax, annual accounts, management accounts and Self Assessment, plus CIS where relevant. That means one accounting relationship, rather than coordinating several providers.
Who we work with
NDCA runs payroll for UK employers of every size, including:
- Limited companies with director-only payroll
- Growing businesses taking on their first employees
- Small and growing teams
- Tech, SaaS and AI businesses, for example our tech and SaaS accounting service
- Agencies and professional service businesses, including software development agencies
- E-commerce and retail businesses
- Healthcare businesses
- Hospitality businesses
- Construction businesses, where payroll and CIS overlap
- Content creators and other growing owner-managed businesses
These are examples rather than an exhaustive list. If your business is not listed, get in touch. It likely still fits.
A worked example: the real cost of an employee
Say you pay an employee £30,000 a year. Employer National Insurance is 15% of pay above £5,000, which is £3,750, and the minimum employer pension contribution of 3% on qualifying earnings between £6,240 and £50,270 adds £712.80. The total cost is about £34,463.
If your company qualifies for the £10,500 Employment Allowance, it covers that employer National Insurance. A company whose only employee is a director cannot claim it, so we check eligibility before your first pay run.

Switching from another payroll provider
If you already have an accountant or payroll bureau and you are not happy, switching is simpler than people think. We collect your year-to-date payroll figures, set your employees up in our system and pick up from the next appropriate payroll cycle. Timing depends on the complexity of your payroll and how quickly the information is available, rather than a fixed number of weeks.
You do not need to wait for the new tax year. You do not need an awkward phone call. We handle it.

Payroll FAQs
Outsourced payroll means handing the payroll process to an external provider or accountant instead of running it in-house. NDCA calculates pay, produces payslips, submits RTI to HMRC, handles pension contributions and statutory payments and handles letters from HMRC and your pension provider.
Our fees start from £95 plus VAT a month for limited companies, with no setup fee. Self Assessment starts from £245 plus VAT as a one-off fee. You receive a fixed quote at the end of your free 30-minute call, based on your turnover, transactions, VAT, payroll and number of directors. Any records alignment or bookkeeping catch-up is quoted separately in writing before work starts.
Yes, including businesses taking on their first and only employee. We register you with HMRC and get PAYE running before the first payday.
Yes. We run director-only payroll for limited companies and set your salary with dividends and Corporation Tax in mind.
RTI, or Real Time Information, is how PAYE is reported to HMRC. A Full Payment Submission (FPS) is sent on or before each payday, reporting pay and deductions. An Employer Payment Summary (EPS) is sent where relevant, for example to report no employees paid in a tax month or to claim statutory pay recovery.
Yes. We assess employees for auto-enrolment, submit pension contributions to your provider and process all statutory payments, from sick pay to shared parental pay.
Yes. We take over from the next suitable pay run, and the timing depends mainly on how quickly your current provider passes the figures across.
Yes. Most payroll clients also have us look after their books and year-end work, so everything sits with one accountant.
We need your employee numbers, pay frequency and a broad sense of your current payroll setup, for example whether you are already running payroll or switching from another provider. Send this through our quote form and we will come back with a fixed monthly price.
