Accountants in Reading for growing businesses

NDCA is an ACCA-regulated accountancy practice that supports growing businesses and individuals with a wide range of accounting services across Reading.

Digital and technology firms make up a large part of Reading’s economy, with Microsoft and Oracle among the companies based in the town. The town sits at the heart of the Thames Valley’s Silicon Corridor, with a dense cluster of tech firms including Microsoft and Oracle alongside a strong insurance and financial services base built up around companies like Prudential. NDCA is a fixed-fee practice built for that mix, run through Xero, with one accountant instead of a rotating team.

What can I say. When I first met Noor over at NDCA I instantly knew he was the man for the job. Straight away he made me feel at ease about my accounts and my tax situation which I personally felt were an absolute mess. Well here we are! 6 months later, limited company open and everything in order. I can now truly relax and focus on growing my business. NDCA has truly dissolved my tax anxiety. Cannot recommend them enough.

Why businesses choose NDCA

NDCA gives you more than a year-end filing. You get monthly figures you can rely on, advice before deadlines rather than after them and one fixed fee that stays the same when you pick up the phone.

Who we help

What growing businesses in Reading need from an accountant

Many businesses in Reading start as sole traders, and some later become limited companies. Each structure has its own tax treatment, filing rules and admin, and a smaller limited company may qualify for simplified accounts and certain reliefs. If you are weighing up the move, we set out what changes and what it means for your tax.

Whatever the structure, the day-to-day tasks are much the same: invoicing, chasing payments, tracking expenses, staying on top of VAT if you are registered, running payroll if you employ anyone and filing accurate accounts and tax returns on time. Reading’s contractor and consultancy market, clustered around business parks like Green Park and Thames Valley Park, brings its own questions around IR35 status and the sole trader versus limited company decision. We work with all of them on the same straightforward basis.

Why a remote-first accountant works for Reading businesses

Choosing an accountant because the office is nearby made sense when paperwork had to be handed over in person. Today the useful questions are how quickly they reply, how clearly they explain things and whether the fee is agreed upfront. NDCA is remote first, so you are not paying for a town-centre office.

Because NDCA is remote first, video calls, shared live data and quick turnarounds are simply how we work. Your Xero file is open to both sides all the time. The fee is fixed before we start, so questions and calls never cost extra.

How NDCA works

Fixed monthly fee

Agreed upfront, covering everything in scope. You will never hesitate to ask a question because of what the answer might cost.

Direct answers from your accountant

One named accountant handles your file and normally replies the same day, working from live Xero figures rather than a once-a-year catch-up.

Built around your business

Whether you are a sole trader, a growing limited company or a landlord with a few properties, we build the service around what you actually need, not a one-size template.

Cloud accounting with Xero

  • Automatic bank feeds: no manual uploads, and VAT filed digitally with HMRC.
  • Invoice and receipt capture: Apron collects supplier bills and receipts so each cost is recorded when it happens.
  • Mobile access: check figures and approve payments on the Xero app, in the office or on the move.
  • Numbers that stay current: your file is updated through the year, not once at the end of it.

Moving from QuickBooks, Sage, FreeAgent or spreadsheets is part of onboarding, so you start on Xero with clean opening balances.

Switching from a Reading accountant

If your accountant is slow to respond, still works from spreadsheets or has grown too big to give you proper attention, we handle the move for you. Moving to NDCA is simple: we handle the handover with your previous accountant, register with HMRC as your new agent and get you set up on Xero. How long it takes depends mainly on how quickly your previous accountant sends the records across, and we keep you updated throughout.
