In short: NDCA is an ACCA-regulated accountancy practice for UK YouTubers. We handle AdSense income, sponsorships, memberships, merchandise and equipment costs and prepare your Self Assessment or limited company accounts. Your agreed services are covered by one fixed monthly fee, with a named accountant who knows your numbers.

NDCA works with YouTubers at every stage, from your first monetised video through to a full-time channel with sponsorships and a limited company, with your AdSense payments, memberships and brand deals reconciled every month.

How an accountant for YouTubers UK handles your income

YouTube pays through several different channels, and lumping it all together as one "YouTube income" figure causes problems at tax time. We track each source separately.

AdSense and the YouTube Partner Program

AdSense payments land in your bank account as one lump monthly figure, covering ad revenue, YouTube Premium revenue share, Shorts ad revenue, memberships and Super Chat. We reconcile payout reports against your YouTube Studio analytics, keep accurate GBP records and check your AdSense tax information is filed correctly, since Google can withhold US tax on earnings from US viewers otherwise.

Channel memberships, Super Chat and Super Thanks

Membership income, Super Chat, Super Thanks and Super Stickers are paid through AdSense in the same monthly payment as your ad revenue, so we split them out using the AdSense report. They form part of your trading income.

Sponsorships and brand integrations

A sponsored segment or dedicated video is a service provided directly to a brand or agency, invoiced and accounted for separately from your platform income. We help you invoice correctly, register for VAT once you cross the threshold and record product placements and affiliate partnerships appropriately.

Affiliate links and merch

Affiliate commission from schemes like Amazon Associates, and income from a merch shelf or external store, is taxed the same way and folded into your monthly reconciliation.

Multi-platform income

Most YouTubers we work with also earn from TikTok, Instagram, Twitch, Kick, UGC brand work, Patreon or a paid newsletter. We combine it into one clear monthly figure and one tax return. See our TikTok, Instagram, Twitch and UGC creator accountant pages or our broader accountant for influencers and content creators hub if your income spans several platforms.

Tax, VAT and equipment for YouTubers

The right structure and the right claims depend on how much your channel earns, not on generic advice.

Most YouTubers start out as sole traders. The £1,000 trading allowance means you do not need to declare trading income of £1,000 or less in a tax year. Above that, you need to register for Self Assessment.

There is no fixed income level at which becoming a limited company automatically makes sense. The right structure depends on your profits, personal income needs, other income, how much you plan to leave in the business and your longer-term plans. NDCA can compare the options using your actual figures.

VAT registration becomes compulsory once your taxable turnover passes £90,000. Sponsorship and brand deal income counts towards this threshold alongside your AdSense revenue, so we monitor your total turnover, not just ad revenue.

Camera bodies, lenses, lighting, microphones, editing computers and software subscriptions may be allowable where they meet the relevant tax rules. Where an item has both personal and business use, only the business element may be claimable. Making Tax Digital for Income Tax applies to self-employed people above set HMRC thresholds, phased in from April 2026.

How NDCA works

What you can expect:

We work with creators specifically, so we already understand AdSense payment schedules and brand deal invoicing without lengthy explanation. One fixed monthly fee covers your bookkeeping, VAT if applicable and your annual return, with a named accountant who answers you directly and normally replies the same day.

The software we use: Xero and Apron

Modern tools built for how creators actually get paid.

We use Xero to keep your bookkeeping organised and connected to your bank account, so your AdSense, membership and sponsorship payments are categorised automatically. We use Apron to capture your receipts and supplier bills and send them into Xero.

YouTuber accountants across the UK

NDCA works remotely with clients across the UK, wherever your business is based.

YouTube income getting complicated?

AdSense in one place, memberships in another, sponsors who pay 60 days late. We handle the lot. Send us your income mix and we will give you a fixed monthly quote at the end of your free consultation call.

YouTuber accounting FAQs

Yes. AdSense, channel memberships, sponsorships and affiliate income are taxable trading income for UK residents. You then pay Income Tax and Class 4 National Insurance on your profit.

AdSense payments are part of your trading income, recorded in pounds at the amount you receive. NDCA reconciles payout reports against YouTube Studio analytics so your accounts reflect what Google paid you.

Costs incurred wholly for your channel are allowable, including cameras, lighting, microphones, editing computers, software and a share of home costs. For items you also use personally, you claim the business share only.

Yes. Sponsorship and brand deal income is business income, taxed alongside your platform income. It is invoiced and recorded separately, and products received in return for a video count as income at their value.

It depends on your profits, how much you take out and your plans for the business, so there is no single figure. We compare both structures using your real numbers before you decide.

Yes, once your UK taxable turnover passes £90,000 in any rolling 12 months or is expected to within the next 30 days. Services supplied to overseas businesses are usually outside the scope of UK VAT, so we check which of your income streams count.
