Bookkeeping services for UK businesses
Most business owners do not start out hating bookkeeping. They start out doing it themselves, then a year goes by and there are 600 unreconciled bank transactions, a folder of receipts on the kitchen table, and someone asking why the figures do not match.
NDCA provides weekly, monthly and quarterly bookkeeping for UK sole traders, limited companies, landlords and partnerships. We are ACCA-regulated, cloud based and we charge a fixed monthly fee so you never get a surprise invoice.

What our bookkeeping service covers
A dedicated bookkeeper handles the day-to-day work that keeps your accounts accurate and your year-end painless. That includes:
- Bank and credit card reconciliation
- Sales invoicing and aged debtor tracking
- Purchase invoice processing through Apron (more on that below)
- Expense categorisation and receipt management
- Monthly accounting adjustments so year-end is not a scramble
- Real-time profit and loss, balance sheet and cash position
You choose the cadence. Weekly for owners who want a Friday cash report. Monthly for everyone else.
How NDCA works
Three things make our bookkeeping service different from the average accountancy firm.
- Fixed monthly fee
You pay one price every month for everything we agreed at the start. No clock-watching. No “quick question” emails that turn into a £150 charge. - A real human, fast
You get a named accountant who knows your business, not a ticket queue. Most client questions get a same-day answer. - Built around how you actually work
Some clients want weekly bookkeeping with a Friday cash report. Others want a monthly clean and a quarterly review. We build the rhythm around your business, not the other way round.
Xero is the only platform we use
Xero is the only bookkeeping platform we run. There are good reasons for that.
Xero connects directly to your bank for live transaction feeds. It updates in real time, so you and your accountant always work from the same numbers. It is cloud-based, so you can check your figures from your phone in the back of a taxi. And because we use it every day, our team is fast in it — faster than we would be in any other system.
If you are already on Xero, we plug straight in. If you are not, we migrate you across, set up your chart of accounts, configure bank feeds, and train you and your team.
We also offer Xero training as a standalone service. Learn more about Xero training.
Apron for invoice capture
Receipts and supplier invoices are where most bookkeeping breaks down. People lose them, forget to forward them, or find them at the bottom of a glovebox in March.
We use Apron to fix that, and it’s included in your monthly bookkeeping fee — no separate subscription. Snap a photo of a receipt or forward a supplier invoice to your dedicated Apron email address. Apron extracts the supplier, date, amount, VAT and line items automatically and pushes the data straight into Xero. No manual typing. No lost paperwork. No reconciliation guesswork at month-end.
For our clients, this is the difference between bookkeeping that takes ten minutes a week and bookkeeping that takes a Saturday.
Who we work with
NDCA bookkeeping clients fall into a few groups:
- Sole traders who have outgrown spreadsheets
- Limited company directors who want one firm doing everything
- Landlords with property portfolios
- Partnerships and family businesses
- Trades and construction firms
- E-commerce sellers and service businesses
If your situation is not on the list, send us a message — it almost certainly fits.
When monthly bookkeeping pays for itself
Up-to-date books save money in three quiet ways:
- Tax decisions on time. Real-time profit visibility means you make pricing, hiring and dividend decisions before year-end, not after.
- VAT reclaims caught early. Overlooked reclaimable VAT becomes free money quietly returned to you each quarter.
- No year-end scramble. Year-end accounts on clean books cost half what a clean-up project costs. Spending on monthly bookkeeping is cheaper than spending on emergency clean-up.
- Director’s loan accounts kept clean. Avoid section 455 tax charges by tracking director draws properly throughout the year.

Switching from another accountant
If you already have an accountant and you are not happy, switching is simpler than people think. We send your current accountant a professional clearance letter, collect your records, and pick up where they left off. Most clients are fully on-boarded within two weeks.
You do not need to wait for year-end. You do not need an awkward phone call. We handle it.
Bookkeeping FAQs
NDCA fees depend on transaction volume, whether you are VAT-registered, and what else you want bundled in (payroll, year-end accounts, tax returns). You get a fixed monthly price upfront, not an hourly meter. Get a quote by contacting us today.
Yes. Most accountants only do year-end. Bookkeeping is the monthly work that makes year-end possible. Without it, your accountant is reconstructing a year of activity from scratch every January, which is slow and expensive. NDCA does both under one fee.
Bookkeeping is the recording of transactions. Accounting is the interpretation, reporting and tax work built on top of that record. Same firm, two jobs.
For most small businesses, weekly or monthly. High-volume businesses benefit from daily bookkeeping so cash position is always visible. We agree the cadence with you at onboarding.
Xero, exclusively. We are a certified Xero Partner. We pair Xero with Apron for invoice capture so receipts and supplier bills are processed automatically rather than typed in by hand.
Yes. We do bookkeeping repair as a standalone project. We will rebuild the missing months, reconcile the accounts and hand you back a clean set of books — or take over the ongoing work from there.
We are remote first. We work with clients across the UK using Xero, so location does not matter.
