Xero Training for UK Business Owners, Bookkeepers and Finance Teams
Most people who struggle with Xero are not bad at accounting. They are using Xero the way they used the system before it — copying old habits into new software, missing the features that make it fast, and reconciling transactions one at a time when bank rules could clear a hundred in a click.
We fix that.
NDCA delivers one-to-one and team Xero training for UK business owners, bookkeepers and finance teams. We are ACCA-regulated, work on Xero every day with clients, and we work to a fixed-quote price for each training engagement so you know what it costs before we start.”

What our Xero training service covers
We tailor every session to the person in the room and the business they are running. Common topics include:
- Xero setup, including chart of accounts, tracking categories and tax rates
- Bank feeds, bank rules and fast reconciliation
- Sales invoicing, repeating invoices and online payment links
- Purchase invoice processing through Apron for invoice capture
- Expense claims, mileage and employee expenses
- VAT setup, schemes and quarterly return filing under MTD
- Payroll basics for business owners running their own payroll
- CIS setup for contractors and subcontractors
- Reporting — profit and loss, balance sheet, tracking and custom reports
- Year-end preparation and working with your accountant
- Connecting Xero to other apps in the ecosystem
- Migration training for businesses moving from QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Sage or spreadsheets
Sessions can be a single deep-dive on one topic, a full onboarding programme over several weeks, or a refresher for a team that inherited a Xero file and never had formal training.
How NDCA works
Three things make our Xero training service different.
- Fixed-quote sessions
Xero training is the other service we do not bundle into a monthly fee. Each engagement is quoted up front based on the topics covered, the number of people in the session, and whether it is one-off or a programme. You know the cost before we start. No clock-watching, no surprise invoice. - A real human, fast
A named trainer delivers your session and answers your questions afterwards. No ticket queue. Questions that come up in the days after the training get a reply within one working day. - Built around your actual file, not a demo company
Most Xero training out there is delivered on a demo company with clean data and no quirks. We train inside your own Xero file — your accounts, your transactions, your bank feeds, your real reconciliation backlog. By the end of the session, you have not just learnt Xero. You have actually used it on your own data, in front of someone who can answer the questions.
Who we work with
NDCA Xero training clients fall into a few groups:
- Business owners taking bookkeeping back in-house and learning Xero properly for the first time
- New bookkeepers joining a team and needing to get up to speed on the company’s file
- Office managers and operations staff who handle invoicing and bank reconciliation without a finance background
- Finance teams onboarding new joiners who need consistent training on internal Xero processes
- Businesses migrating from QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Sage or spreadsheets onto Xero
- Existing Xero users who suspect they are using maybe 30% of the software
If your situation is not on the list, send us a message — it almost certainly fits.

Migrating to Xero
If you are still on QuickBooks, FreeAgent, Sage or spreadsheets and want to move to Xero, we handle the migration as part of the training. Historic data is brought across, the chart of accounts is set up properly from the start, bank feeds are connected, Apron is added for invoice capture, and the training is delivered on your own data so the team is confident before go-live.
Migration is a project rather than a recurring service, and is quoted alongside the training.
Xero training FAQs
NDCA fees depend on the topics covered, the length of the session, the number of people in the room, and whether it is one-off or a programme. We quote a fixed price for the engagement before we start, so you know what it costs. Get a quote on 01903 968618.
Yes. Most of our training is one-to-one, delivered remotely on your own Xero file. It is the fastest way for a business owner or bookkeeper to get up to speed on a real workflow.
Yes. Group sessions work well for finance teams, office staff, or trades businesses where several people enter data into Xero. We tailor the topics to the team's actual responsibilities.
Remote, by default. Sessions are delivered over video on your own Xero file, which is faster, cheaper, and means we can spread sessions over multiple shorter slots if that suits the team better.
Most sessions run between one and three hours, depending on the topic. A focused refresher on bank reconciliation might be an hour. A full onboarding programme for someone new to Xero might be three or four sessions across a few weeks. We scope this at the consultation.
Yes. We train inside your own file rather than on a demo company. By the end of the session, the team has not just learnt Xero — they have actually used it on real data with someone who can answer questions on the spot.
Yes. We handle the migration, set up the chart of accounts, connect bank feeds, add Apron for invoice capture, and deliver training on the new file so the team is ready before go-live. Migration is quoted as a project alongside the training.
We focus on business owners, internal finance teams, and bookkeepers working inside a single business. We do not deliver training for practising accountancy professionals.
Xero, exclusively. We are a certified Xero Partner. We do not train on QuickBooks, FreeAgent or Sage, though we do handle migrations from those systems into Xero.
Yes. NDCA is regulated by the ACCA (Association of Chartered Certified Accountants).
We are remote first. Training sessions are delivered over video, so location does not matter.

Yes, and we often do. Most people who've had Xero training from a one-off course can do the basics but get stuck on the workflows specific to their business. We pick up where the basic training left off and train on your actual setup — your chart of accounts, your bank feeds, your suppliers, your tax position. The training is much more useful when it's on your own data.
Both. We train accountants and bookkeepers joining a practice that uses Xero, in-house finance teams onboarding new joiners, and business owners taking bookkeeping back in-house. The session is tailored to the audience — a finance professional needs different training to a sole trader.
Xero Central is excellent for looking up how to do a specific thing once you know what you're looking for. It's less useful when you don't know what you don't know. Training fills the gaps you didn't know were there — the bank rules that would have saved you ten hours a month, the reporting features you never opened, the workflow that you've been doing the slow way because nobody told you the fast way. Most clients say the cost of one session saves them more time within a quarter.
